There are a myriad of ways you can get involved and/or contribute to the ScorchOS project. Listed on this page are a few suggestions and points of contact, but the possibilities are endless! Though ScorchOS is not being actively developed, please feel free to create a respin/derived work. Click the link above for more details. Develop ScorchOS There are several ways you can help develop ScorchOS: Submit Code Simply download the latest source code from the SVN repository at http://scorchos.googlecode.com/ and start hacking around with the code adding cool features or squashing bugs! If you produce something good then drop Bob Moss a line! If you've produced some good code it will be included. Take a look at the code submission guide for a rough idea of what we look for! If you become particularly prolific at creating new features and/or bug-fixes you may even get your own branch in the SVN repository! Report Bugs Have you found a flaw in ScorchOS? If so, reporting the bug should lead to a positive response from the ScorchOS developers! Just make sure you state which aspect of the product you have located the bug in, exactly how to reproduce it, and what the actual outcome is (compared to what you think should happen!). The more detail you can give, the better! Create a Respin If you have a fantastic idea for an operating system, why not use ScorchOS as a base? Not only may you realise your dream but your improvements may just make back into the kernel. Support ScorchOS You can support ScorchOS in a number of ways: Join the Mailing List If you have any questions or would like to share your experiences with fellow ScorchOS users, then simply join join our mailing list. Participate on Forums and Blogs ScorchOS presently doesn't have any official forums or blogs. Why not start one as the community begins to grow? Update the Wiki If you come up with a helpful tip involving the building, using or testing of ScorchOS, then either modify the page that's already there or create your own! Or you could simply ensure that the information within the wiki is kept up-to-date as a wiki maintainer. Spread the Word Tell your friends, lend out copies and link to us from your website and blog profile! The bigger the community gets, the better the end product becomes! Make a Donation ScorchOS is distributed for free - however, there are costs incurred to keep ScorchOS in active development. If you make a donation you can ensure these costs are covered and secure the financial future of the project. |
